Author has star quality

LOCAL Karly Lane shines a national spotlight on Macksville with her latest novel, North Star.

Selected from more than 250 books as part of the Federal Government’s Get Reading initiative, North Star features in the 50 Books You Can’t Put Down booklet.

This is Karly’s second rural fiction novel.

The story follows Kate Thurston’s journey back to her home town with her two children following the breakdown of her marriage.

But events soon conspire against her as secrets from the past put her hopes of a new life at risk.

“Although the story is set in a

ictional town, Macksville has been an inspiration in the creation of this novel, and home to my family for generations,” Karly said.

“It’s an honour to be chosen as one of the 50 Books You Can’t Put Down.

“And I’m excited to be a part of the growing number of authors whose stories embrace the essence of small rural communities.”

She has published suspense titles The Wild Rose Press and Eternal Press under Karlene Blakemore-Mowle.

A wife and mother of four, working part-time as a pathology collector, she manages to squeeze in her writing whenever and however she can.

Interested readers can meet her on Saturday at the official launch of North Star at Mary Boulton’s Pioneer Village, River St, Macksville at 2 pm. For more information check out www.karlylane.com.
