Authentic Thai flavours that won't hurt your hip pocket

STUNNING seaside views and incredibly affordable, quality Thai meals are just some of the great things on offer at the newly opened Nautilus Thai Gourmet.

Tucked away at Nautilus Resort in Sapphire Beach, the restaurant is a hidden gem.

It caters for both public and resort guests who can dine inside with sleek and modern-style settings, or outside alfresco with a gorgeous ocean backdrop.

With entrees starting from a mere $2 and main courses from $12, the restaurant offers a range of authentic Thai flavours that won't hurt your hip pocket.

When it comes to entrees, diners can indulge in classic Thai favourites. These include spring rolls, curry puffs, fish cakes, satay chicken and prawn rolls.

Afterwards is the main show. Here diners can enjoy a feast for all senses - not just taste - with options ranging from curries, stir-fries, noodles, salads and soups.

Curries on offer include massaman beef, pumpkin, spicy red curry and more.

For a great example, you can enjoy a delicious combination of coconut milk, bamboo shoots, vegies, red capsicum and basil alongside your choice of chicken or prawns with the restaurant's spicy green curry.

If you're peckish for a stir-fry, ginger chicken, beef or prawns stir-fried with fresh vegies is one of a few great options.

Alternatively there are a number of noodle and soups available to satiate your appetite.

You can't go past the classic Pad Thai dish, a combination of stir-fried noodles, with chicken, bean curd, egg, peanuts, greens, tamarind and sweet paprika.

On top of the great range, diners can also opt for a number of vegetarian dishes.

The brains behind the operation, chef and restaurant owner Toon opened Nautilus Thai Gourmet in Coffs Harbour last year, after catering for the Palm Beach area in Sydney for several years.

"I've been cooking since 1996 when I started my first restaurant," said Toon.

"We would like everyone to come and try because we are new here."

Nautilus Thai Gourmet takes group bookings and also offers catering services.

The restaurant is open everyday for dinner 5pm to 9pm, and is also open for lunch on Friday-Sunday from 11.30am to 2.30pm.

Feel like having a quiet night in? Nautilus Thai Gourmet is also a take-away store, offering home deliveries on Tuesday-Thursday from 5pm to 9pm.
