Australia Day Award nominations extended

THE NOMINATION date has been extended for the Banana Shire Australia Day Awards.

Shire residents now have until Friday December 2 to nominate a member of their community in recognition of their outstanding service or achievements.

The award categories are:

  • Citizen & Young Citizen of the Year
  • Cultural & Junior Cultural - Artist and/or Arts Worker
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Junior & Senior Sportsperson
  • Sports Coach, Official and/or Administrator
  • Community Group or Team
  • Community Event of the Year

Nomination forms can be found at banana.qld.gov.au and hard copies are available from the council's customer service centres and libraries.

The winners will be announced and awards presented at the 2017 Australia Day celebrations, which will be hosted in Baralaba on January 26.
