Australia beats NZ Silver Ferns to take Netball World Cup

LAURA Geitz has led Australia to a 58-55 victory against the New Zealand Silver Ferns in the Netball World Cup final in Sydney.

Geitz had excellent statistics in the game, nine deflections, three gains, two intercepts and one defensive rebound.

The win was on the back of a brilliant first quarter when the Australian Diamonds led 16-7.

The Silver Ferns had the better of each of the next three quarters, up by one, two and third in the final three quarters but a deficit of nine at quarter time was too much.

England beat Jamaica 66-46 in the battle for bronze.
