Aussies looking to overcome poor T20 record
AUSTRALIA will have to overcome a dismal Twenty20 record in the UK if it is to overcome England in Cardiff tonight.
The Aussies have only once beaten the old enemy in the shortest form of the game eight times in the past decade in England. That win came after injured opener Aaron Finch blasted a world record 156 two years ago.
His opening spot could be taken by newcomer Joe Burns (pictured), who impressed in the 50-over format with 69 against Ireland last week. Another option could be Victorian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis who can bat anywhere in the top seven.
Meanwhile, the Australian women's team will take plenty of confidence into its dead rubber tonight, part of a double-header in Cardiff.
The Southern Stars beat England by 20 runs in the second T20 of their series in Hove on Friday night to regain the Ashes. The Aussies bowled England out for 87, its lowest T20 score.
