Auction success

BUCCA Preschool is rejoicing after adding up the results of its major September 4 charity auction which swelled the small country pre-school’s fundraising coffers by $16,000.

The auction, held at Nana Glen Sportsground, saw all kinds of items go under the hammer, including trucks, tractors, livestock, vouchers for services and sporting memorabilia.

The results exceeded the most optimistic expectations.

The aim was to raise $10,000 towards building an extension to the Lower Bucca Community Preschool, to include a disabled toilet and wheelchair ramp.

One of the organisers of the fundraiser, Eliezer Robinson, said they were “blown away” with the results of the auction, which allowed them to bank $16,120.

“It could not have been a worse day (weather wise),” Mr Robinson said, “but nobody minded. It had a really good community spirit.”

Mr Robinson said the development application had now been submitted to Coffs City Council.

“With the money we had saved, plus a grant, the money raised at the auction will allow us to also put a roof over the walkway leading to the toilets,” he said.
