Facebook auction for Burnett CWA after January floods

HERE is your opportunity to nab a bargain and raise money for a good cause.

A group of local businesspersons and craftswomen in the Gladstone region have banded together to raise money via a Facebook auction for the Country Women's Assocation (CWA) Burnett branches by donating items or services.

Owner of Bow Peeps Treats Sarah Morton said she started the process as she was using the CWA Bundaberg branch's cookery book daily and as her grandmother is a member of CWA she was left wondering how the January floods had impacted the organisation.

The CWA Burnett president Irene Hamilton advised Mrs Morton that the 21 divisions that sit under the Burnett arm have been heavily affected.

"I asked the people in my mothers group and close friends whether they would be able to craft up an item," Mrs Morton said.

"Since doing this I've seen so many more online businesses and the talents of creative women.

"I'm just really thankful that other people are getting involved as it takes a lot of time and effort to craft the items for donation."

Jess Rix, owner of Jes Rix Hair and Beauty, who has donated a free hair consult, style cut, organic deep treatment hair mask and finished blow dry, said that she became involved as she wanted to give back to the community.

"I'm lucky enough to work from home so I can do this," Ms Rix said.

Julie Skennerton, who has donated an open-sized modern cloth nappy and feeding smock, said she wanted to get on board as it was a good cause.

The other businesses and persons involved in the auction are Alexa Dombkowski of Dombkowski Photography and Design, Heather Devny of Kalluna Dee, Kellie Shepherd of Kaptured by Kellie Shepherd, Cathy Walters of Little Letti's Pretties, Allison Farrow, Jolene Butler, Nikki Kiely, Tanya Kalantary and Sue Mann.

Find the auction online in an album on the *Bow Peeps Treats* Facebook page.

Bidding finishes at 3pm Friday, March 22 - it is a simple process, all you need to do is comment with your bid and email address.

The money raised will be split between the 21 divisions of the CWA Burnett area.
