QUEENSLAND'S Ashleigh Bareham was the most valuable baker on MasterChef tonight.

But the 24-year-old's stellar efforts still weren't enough to save her team, the blue team, from defeat in a challenge at Melbourne's Convent Bakery.

Bareham's signature brownies, which she sold at several Sunshine Coast markets before going on the reality cooking show, made up for a third of her team's total sales.

The red and blue teams were tasked with making and selling as many pies, pizzas, breads and desserts as possible in the bakery's large commercial kitchen.

"She was a real star today," judge Matt Preston said.

Ms Bareham also made the lemon curd filling for her team's second dessert, a lemon curd tart, and even had time to help make pizzas.

The judges had nothing but positive feedback on her tried and tested chocolate brownies.

"It's light but still fudgey in the middle," Preston said.

The national exposure for her signature brownies could bring Ms Bareham one step closer to her dream of opening a dessert bar on the Coast with her mum Trudi and sister Georgia.

Ms Bareham and her family moved to Queensland from England 10 years ago.

Ms Bareham and her eight blue team members will face-off in a Thai-themed elimination cook-off tomorrow night.
