Art 'treasure' set for world stage

A LOCAL treasure is preparing to tour the globe with her artworks which convey Australia’s natural beauty and rich history.

Indigenous artist Danielle Burford has a busy future ahead of her.

She heads to Mexico for the 5th International Festival of Art and Culture from April 1 to 7 to spread the message that indigenous Australian culture is "one of the oldest and richest in the world".

Australian audiences will get a chance to see Ms Burford’s work when she tours next February, before she sets off for a European tour at the end of 2012.

It is entitled the 2012 Danielle and Friends Indigenous Tour Exhibition and is dedicated to her grandparents.

“The purpose of the tour is to share, cherish and celebrate Indigenous culture and the history of Australia,” Ms Burford said.
