Art prizes for Koori artists

INDIGENOUS artists from the North Coast of New South Wales have the chance to win national acclaim and a substantial cash prize by entering Australia’s prestigious 28th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award, which opens for entries today.

The prize pool for the 28th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award comprises the $40,000 Telstra Award and the following five categories:

$4000 Telstra General Painting Award

$4000 Telstra Bark Painting Award

$4000 Telstra Work on Paper Award

$4000 Wandjuk Marika Memorial 3D Award (sponsored by Telstra)

$4000 Telstra New Media Award.

The 28th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award exhibition will open and winners will be announced on August 11, 2011.
