Art prize success

ANOTHER year and another successful Bellingen Art Prize. This event just keeps getting better and better.

Having closed its doors on Saturday, the Bellingen Community Arts Council found just under $20,000 worth of art had been sold.

“It's a new record for us,” BCAC president Lyn Tizzard said.

“And follows on from the record number of entries (245), a huge opening (490 people) and healthy crowds (1400) throughout the week.”

Ms Tizzard said the Sunday of the long-weekend was one of the busiest days, which was on the one hand thanks to the rain, but sadly also due to the closure of the Global Carnival.

Grafton artist Julie Hutchings was voted winner of the $1000

People's Choice Award, with her drawing ‘Caught Out'.
