Art on show at Club Coffs

AN exhibition of paintings by Sawtell-based artist and sculptor Violetta Lanza will open today at Club Coffs on West High at 7pm.

The exhibition, the first solo show by the artist, will be opened by Russell Stockley from Arts Mid North Coast and all interested people are invited to attend.

Finely detailed landscapes and animals will be the themes of the 10 paintings on show, which may be joined by a life-size brolga sculpture from her collection.

Violetta is already well known for her lively animal sculptures, which range from horses to chooks, but she expanded her work into painting three years ago and has already won several awards, including People’s Choice Awards at the Coffs Harbour portrait competition.

The exhibition, which will remain on show for two months, is the first in a series of art exhibitions of work by local artists and represents a new community initiative for the registered club.

“What (Club Coffs CEO) Carl (Mower) is doing for local artists is amazing,” Violetta said.
