Art and craft show will be biggest

ALL roads will lead to the Norm Jordan Pavilion on Friday evening for the gala opening of the 2009 Coffs Harbour Lillipilli Art and Craft Show at Coffs Harbour Showground.

Doors open at 7pm on Friday and presentations begin at 7.30pm.

Tickets for opening night are $10 and drinks and nibbles will be served before the presentation of awards.

Take the opportunity to vote in the People's Choice award, which carries a $500 prize for the artist.

This year sees a record number of entries in the Lillipilli, with 460 entries, including 262 paintings, 58 photographs and 38 works by young artists.

Ceramics are also attracting additional interest with 22 entries in the ceramic section as well as 36 woodwork entries and 22 fibre craft.

Special guests will include the mayor of Coffs Harbour, Cr Keith Rhoades and representatives of major sponsors.

From Saturday the exhibition will open from 10am to 4pm daily until April 26 when it will close at 2pm and entry will be $5 per person.

Visitors will have the opportunity to buy tickets in several raffles, with one prize a handsome hand-made quilt.

Raffles will be drawn on April 26 and the winners announced shortly before closing time.
