THE 42 year-old man facing child grooming charges has been stood down by AFL (NSW/ACT).

The man was arrested and charged in Coffs Harbour yesterday by the Child Exploitation Internet Unit of NSW Police.

An AFL (NSW/ACT) spokesperson said due to the extremely serious nature of the charges related to online child grooming, the employee has been immediately stood down pending the outcome of court proceedings.

The spokesperson added the AFL (NSW/ACT) views this matter with the gravest concern and is fully cooperating with NSW Police investigators.

"We are shocked and appalled by the allegations," the spokesperson said.

"AFL (NSW/ACT) is urgently seeking further information and is making arrangements to provide support and counselling for any families affected by this news.

Any parents with relevant information are urged to contact NSW Police Sex Crimes Squad's Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

AFL (NSW/ACT) will not make further comment as this is a police matter and charges have been laid.
