YOU won't be asked to milk a cow or pack a carton of bananas, but an interest in, or connection to, living on the land will come in handy if you want to be in the running to be sashed Coffs Harbour's Showgirl 2006.

The search is now well under way for the this year's showgirl, and if you're interested and eligible it's time to nominate.

Coffs Harbour's Showgirl competition is the only competition associated with the annual Coffs Harbour Show where entries close well before the show begins.

Coffs Harbour Showgirl entries close on Monday, May 8, and judging is held on Wednesday, May 10.

All the entrants in the competition join in the grand parade at the Coffs Harbour Show on Saturday, May 13.

This year's Coffs Harbour Show will be held on May 12, 13 and 14. The showgirl competition is open to girls from 17 to 25.

The first entrant for 2006 is 18-year-old Nadine Johnson, who was featured in the Coffs Coast Advocate on April 1.

The 2005 Coffs Harbour Showgirl, university student Alira Capararo, is expected to return to Coffs Harbour for the show weekend and will sash her successor.

The 2006 Coffs Harbour Showgirl will go on to the zone judging in Northern NSW in February, 2007, and the zone winner will take part in the 2007 The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl competition at next year's Sydney Royal Easter Show.
