WRally at Wauchope

COFFS HARBOUR'S rally crew Mal Keough and Jason Richards are hoping for a good result when they contest the first round of the Northern NSW Rally Championships in the forests around Wauchope today and tonight.

The duo are defending Northern NSW Rally champions and will contest the sixround series which includes a round in Coffs Harbour and other rounds as far south as Taree.

The rally will total 258.8 km of which 113.82 km will be competitive and consist of four day and five night stages.

The rally will start from the Andrews Reserve Wauchope at 2.30 pm and the first car is expected to finish at the Hastings Hotel at 9pm.

Keogh said with a fresh engine in the car this year they have managed to find a bit more power which will keep them competitive.

"This series is getting more competitive every year so you cannot afford to be complacent just because you had a good result last year," he said.

The main opposition will be from Wauchope locals David Darby and co-driver Peter Roberts, James Taylor with codriver Steven Jordan and Brendan Thomas and co-driver Jamie Neale.
