Woman dies in crash

POLICE were yesterday still not releasing the name of a Congarinni woman found dead in her car at Bowraville.

Acting Sergeant Jeffrey Burgess from Macksville police said not all of the woman's relatives had yet been informed.

Sgt Burgess said it appeared the 46-year-old drove her white sedan east on North Arm Road late on Sunday night.

He said police believed the woman lost control and slammed into a tree and then plunged up to 15 metres down an embankment.

The woman died at the scene, and was only discovered late on Monday by a passing motorist, who contacted Macksville police.

Emergency crews retrieved the woman's body and salvaged the vehicle as police continued their inquiries.

Investigators are now preparing a report for the coroner.
