Wet weather joy
HEAVY rain may have prompted a minor flood warning for the Bellinger Valley but with rain yesterday easing, any plans to call in Noah and his Ark for a rescue mission were called off.
The Bureau of Meteorology renewed the minor flood warning late yesterday afternoon, however the Bellinger River was expected to peak below its minor flood level.
Some low-lying bridges in Thora may be closed, but at time of print the Bellingen SES had not received any reports of closed roads or bridges.
While many Coffs Coast residents cursed the continuing rain, others welcomed it with open arms ? and empty tanks.
Cliff Schofield is one who doesn't mind the rain ? but if he did he definitely picked the wrong place to call home.
"We are considered as one of the wettest places in NSW, our little property," Mr Schofield said.
And wet it is, with the Promised Land property in Gleniffer recording 254mm since the rain hit the Coffs Coast on Monday.
That may sound impressive but that is a sprinkle for the property which holds the record for the most rain in 24 hours ? 635mm.
