True love conquers all for Kath and Nev
SIXTY years after saying 'I do', local couple Kath and Neville Fuller have proven that love certainly does conquer all.
Still very much active and enjoying each other's company, Kath and Neville have differing opinions on why their marriage has been so successful.
"It's a lot of give and take," Kath said. Neville hands the praise over to Kath.
"She's looked after me really well," he said.
Kath, 77 and Neville, 86, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 8, after being married on the same day in 1947 when Kath was just 17.
When asked about the highlight of their marriage, both agree that it is their five children.
"We did really well at that," Neville said.
"We've got nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren as well," Kath said.
The couple met at a football match at the end of the war, and worked hard throughout their lives on the family farm to provide their children with everything they needed.
Eldest daughter Nerolie said that although times were sometimes tough, Kath and Neville provided them with all the necessities of life, and that they had an extremely happy childhood.
She also said that the pair have always made the best of every situation.
Neville and Kath attend dance classes at least once a week, and when asked whether they give the youngsters a run for their money, Neville doesn't hesitate.
"Of course we've still got it!" he said.
Neville and Kath will be celebrating their longevity with a dinner with 50 family members and friends at the Coffs Harbour Ex-Services tonight.
"I'm very pleased. It's going to be really nice to see everyone all together," Kath said.
"We'll have a good time, don't you worry," Neville said.
