True Christmas joy

PLEASE adopt a needy family for Christmas, so they too can enjoy the festive season.

Businesses, clubs, schools, organisations and workplaces as well as families and individuals are being asked to gather together presents and non-perishable food for donation.

Four Coffs Coast charities nominated 114 families who would have a cheerless Christmas unless they received help and asked local residents to adopt one of these families.

Since then 55 families have been 'adopted' but there are still another 59 families needing help.

These people are facing serious hardship, often through no fault of their own and Christmas is the time of the year when having no money for gifts or special treats hurts the most and loneliness and depression strikes hardest.

Underneath the tinsel, plastic holly, ribbons and wrapping paper, Christmas Day celebrates the birth of a babe who grew up to change the world.

You can do your bit to make the world a warmer place by adopting a family.

Look for the Adopt a Family for Christmas advertisement on p64 today, select a family from the list and phone the charity number listed above it.
