Truck roll leaves highway blocked

THE Pacific Highway north of Macksville was blocked for up to three hours yesterday after a truck laden with sheep carcases overturned.

The accident happened just north of Ushers Fruit Store, about 3km north of the Macksville Bridge, at 11.19am.

It appears a car turning out of the fruit store caused a chain reaction involving a van, a Landcruiser and the northbound truck.

Ambulance officers treated one person with minor injuries at the scene, and both lanes of the highway were blocked.

The carcases were loaded onto another refrigerated truck from Coffs Harbour, and salvage crews righted the vehicle and moved it off the highway.

Fire crews mopped up a small diesel spill and washed the road.

Traffic was diverted through Wirrimbi during the salvage operation.
