Triples triumphfor terrific trio
COFFS Ex-Services bowlers Judy Monk, Dot Wright and Dot Heron believe they form a pretty good team on the green.
After the trio recently grabbed the District triples crown who could argue with them?
The Coffs girls overcame the experienced Park Beach outfit of Angela Blackwell, Barbara Schenkel and Joan Humphreys 24-14 in a hard-fought final last week.
Coffs Ex-Services skip Dot Heron said while the margin appeared comfortable, the final was anything but easy.
"It looked comfortable, but it was a very hard game," she said.
She said teamwork was the secret to her side's success.
"I can't praise Dot (Wright) and Judy enough," she said.
"We played together as a team all the way through ... we think we make a good team.
"That is our main strength, we play well as a team and everyone contributes. We have beautiful harmony."
The trio has a lot of titles to back up that opinion, having also won the club triples and fours titles.
"We have been playing together for three years and we usually do pretty well," Dot said. "We normally make the final or semi final."
Dot said the team had to come through a series of tough matches just to make the District final.
"From the very beginning we struck some very strong teams," she said.
"But we played really well and combined well."
The trio will head to Byron Bay for the Zone final and they are confident the winning streak will continue.
"I'm quite sure we can match them (at the zone championships)," Dot said.
"If we play as a team we will be fine."
But Dot knows to never be over-confident.
"You can win today, but by gosh you can lose the next (game)," she said.
