Townhouses the future
ARCHITECT Frank Scahill is playing his part in helping to modernise Park Beach.
He's proud of one of his latest projects now close to completion, a four-town house development which he says is becoming fairly typical for the area.
He said the owner bought the land with an eye to develop it and eventually live in one of the townhouses, with the existing dwelling to come down once construction finishes.
"Everyone gets a carport and a garage. I believe they're a good way to go, rather than blocks of flats. "However, it's still good to have a variety of residential accommodation for people to choose from," Frank said.
"These days, people don't have backyards."
He said Park Beach had always had tremendous potential and increasing numbers of people were realising this.
Particularly those from the metropolitan area wanting to make the move to the North Coast where housing was relatively more affordable.
"The quality of the Park Beach area is going up," Frank said.
"The time has come where a variety of old developments are getting knocked down and something like these townhouses are being built."
He said new residential projects at Park Beach were increasing the population, which would make it an even more interesting and vibrant place to live.
"I believe the property boom here is just starting," Frank said.
