Touchdown! Oz Idol set to land in Coffs

By ANN-MARIE MAY

COFFS HARBOUR is set to be taken over by karaoke champs, divas-in-waiting and maybe even the odd talented musician, with the announcement that Australian Idol is coming to town.

Now in it's fifth season, Australian Idol is offering Coffs Coast residents the opportunity to become the next singing sensation with auditions to take place at Opal Cove Resort on March 10.

Men and women who are between 16 and 31 years old and don't yet have a recording deal may audition. It also helps if you can sing, but as we have seen in past years, that's not an absolute requirement.

So get practicing in the shower, because you too could become the next Guy Sebastian, Damien Leith, Shannon Noll or Young Diva. Keep reading the Coffs Coast Advocate for further details.

What you need to do:

Prepare a verse and chorus from a song of your choice.

Dress to impress as you may only get one chance to shine in front of our judges.

Bring a friend or parent if you need moral support.

Bring your own light refreshments/snacks as it could be a long day.

To qualify for an audition:

You must be 16 or over and under 31 years of age on June 30, 2007. n You must bring identification to prove your age.

You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

You must be available within a week for a second audition if you are successful in the first round.

You can register only once per day.

You must not have a recording deal, a publishing contract, a management contract or any other agent representation agreement that you are unable to terminate without restrictions/obligations.

Contestants who reached the semi-finals in previous series of Australian Idol are ineligible to audition.
