Tip off for women

IF success can be determined by community support, then the turn-out for the State League women's team trials was triumphant.

The amazing 2004 season for the Suns men's team has been a major encouragement for Coffs Harbour Basketball Association and members, to initiate a women's team for 2005.

Coffs Harbour has an immeasurable wealth of talent and, with community support, can once again achieve great results for such a venture.

Head coach, Herb Haddon, was overwhelmed by the attendance at trials last Sunday.

"I am very pleased with the intensity of those who were there at the scrimmage," he said.

"It should be interesting when official trials start on January 30 but at this early stage, things are looking up, I am very excited."

The next trial has been set down at the Coffs Harbour Community Indoor Stadium on Sunday, January 30 from 4pm to 6pm.

All players, including students from the Southern Cross University in 2005, are most welcome.
