The art of laughter
THERE is nothing quite so funny as a grown man 'sliding' into an oversized garbage bin and then, with his complete body inside the bin, 'walking' around the stage.
The clever art of comedic timing was the focus of a workshop held at the Jetty Memorial Theatre yesterday with 12 local high school students.
The workshop was conducted by Wolfe Bowart, who will present his latest hit LaLaLuna at the theatre in two shows today.
Yesterday, local high school students learnt from Wolfe how to develop a character and then how to present different moods for the characters they developed.
Wolfe arrived in Coffs Harbour as part of a 150-show-tour with LaLaLuna.
"LaLaLuna is a physical theatre piece," Wolfe said.
"It is very surreal and 150,000 laughs a minute. It is a piece of theatre that integrates circus techniques, such as juggling and unicycles, to help tell the story."
LaLaLuna will be presented at the Jetty Memorial Theatre today at 2pm and 7pm. For tickets, phone 6652 4697.
