Teenager charged

A TOORMINA teenager has been charged with numerous traffic offences after a high speed police pursuit through Coffs on Good Friday.

It's alleged the 16-year-old was driving a stolen Queensland motor vehicle.

The pursuit started in Coffs Harbour, with the offender leading police on a chase through the Jetty area and back into the city centre.

Police tried to get the driver to pull over, but had to give up the chase when high-speeds made it too dangerous.

The offender escaped, but not for very long, with police picking up the pursuit again on Lyons Road, Toormina.

The chase was then taken onto the Pacific Highway, heading south, with police estimating the driver reached a speed of 185kph.

He was eventually stopped at Urunga. There were no injuries.

The teen was arrested and charged with stealing a motor vehicle, driving unlicensed and driving in a manner dangerous.
