YOU can clicketty-clack along aboard a steam train at Glenreagh this weekend.

Glenreagh Mountain Railway is inviting people to revisit the golden age of railway travel with 2km rides behind the fully-restored 19-class locomotive Betty on Saturday and Sunday.

"These events are being used to train crews ready for our public operations which are due to commence as soon as we have the line restored to Tallawudjah Creek later this year," said GMR president Colin Sambrook.

This weekend train rides will begin each day at 9am and run until 4pm. Fares will be $5 per adult, $2 for children or $12 per family.

Sausage sandwiches, steak sandwiches, drinks, books and souvenirs will be on sale.

Glenreagh Mountain Railway is located at Glenreagh West besidethe Glenreagh Recreation Grounds. Access is via Bridge St, Glenreagh, and is clearly signposted. For more information, contact Peter Dickson-Smith, ph 66526998.
