Surfboat battle

COFFS Harbour Surf Life Saving Club will host rounds five and six of the Plantation Hotel North Coast Surfboat Premiership at Park Beach this weekend.

More than 30 crews from Yamba to Wauchope and Bonny Hills will contest the carnival with the feature events being the John Farlow Concreting open men's and The Paperboys open wom-en's surfboat races.

Boat captain for the Coffs Harbour club, Dan Heffernan said he expects a strong showing from the Yamba and Minnie Waters clubs in the open men's while Coffs Harbour and Macksville-Scotts Head should fight out the open women's division.

These crews have been the most consistent all season so hopefully the surf will build up by the weekend to give them some extra pressure to perform.

Spectators can catch all the action at Park Beach in front of the surf club from 11am today and from 9am tomorrow.
