Strong entries for Open



THE McDonald's 25th Annual Northern NSW Open Junior Tennis Tournament is on in Coffs Harbour this weekend with massive entries coming through.

Up to 180 juniors, adults and wheelchair tennis players are coming from throughout NSW and Southern Queensland for the annual tournament.

The strength of the tournament is as follows:

10 Boys: 4 of the top 6 in Northern NSW are competing.

10 Girls: 5 of the top 7 in Northern NSW.

12 Girls: 7 of the top 9 in Northern NSW.

12 Boys: 6 of the top 9 in Northern NSW.

14 Girls: 5 of the top 8 in Northern NSW.

14 Boys: 3 of the top 6 in Northern NSW.

16 Girls: 4 of the top 6 in Northern NSW.

Players to keep an eye on over the weekend in the Open Men's will be Matt Mullane from Camden as well as Australian Veterans representative Peter Hiscock from Tamworth.

In the 12 Boys, Tamworth's Daniel Nash, who has just represented Australia in a trip to Neumea, will face tough opposition from Port's Matt Ternes and Westside's Jarran Pfefferkorn.

Other Westside juniors to keep an eye on will be Ben Vandenberg, Matt Innes and Garth Worboys in the Opens plus the 18 Boys; Darren Wright and Dylan Moran in the 14 Boys; Mitch Dunn and Nathan Moran in the 12 Boys; Edward Craven, Joe Whalon and Chris Waites in the 10 Boys.
