Still time to enter Little Masters

LAST chance for any local players who would like a game of tennis this weekend in the inaugural Tennis Coaches Australia Little Masters Tennis Tournament being held at the Westside Tennis Club.

Ages being catered for are 9's (singles only ), 11's, 13's and 15's both boys and girls.

Doubles will be played from 12.30pm on Saturday while the singles will be played on Sunday from 9am.

A bonus for the singles players in the 11's, 13's and 15's is that any semi-finalists qualify for the State Finals to be played in Sydney on September 28 and September 29.

With more than 40 players entered, tournament organisers are pleased with the response considering it is the first time this event has been staged in Coffs Harbour.

A TOTAL of 15 Westside Tennis Club juniors participated in the 2006 Junior Development Series held in the region between Coffs Harbour and Forster.

Six separate tournaments were played spanning the months of February through to May.

Westside juniors who played, and their results, were:

10 girls: Siena De Salis 5th, only played two out of the six tournaments with a semi-final and runner-up performance.

10 boys: Conlan Brehaut 18th, qualifies for 10's next year; Jake Howe 20th, qualifies for 10's next year.

12 boys: Mitch Dunn 4th, good result from Mitch with one point from finishing second; Chris Waites 14th, qualifies for 12's next year; Edward Craven 15th, qualifies for 12's next year. Alistair Marsden 29th, qualifies for 12's next year. Mitch Ide 37th, qualifies for 12's next year. Joe Whalon 38th, qualifies for 12's next year.

14 boys: Jarran Pfefferkorn 8th, qualifies for 14's next year; Dylan Moran 11th. Nathan Moran 13th, qualifies for 14's next year; Jacob Phillips 36th.

16 boys: Darren Wright 12th, qualifies for 16's next year.

21 boys: Ben Vandenberg 6th.

Both Siena De Salis (10 girls) and Mitch Dunn (12 boys) have qualified for the Inverell Champion of Champions to be played on the weekend of August 13/14.
