Softball finals begin

SATURDAY saw the first round of finals being played for softball.

Grades included Under 13s, B grade women's, A re- serve women's and mixed.

Under-13s

Royals v Blue Tongues: Royals won 10-4.

Toormina had a great pitcher/catcher combination with Perry Gordon and Chris McDonald.

Courtney Waters of Toormina made an excellent outfield play.

For Royals, Steven Lee hit a home run and great catches were taken by Eliza Buscombe and Chris Catch- pole.

B grade

women's finals

Tryhards met Tweenies for a Grand Final spot and in a tight game Tryhards emerged winners.

Tweenies had a very fast pitcher in Raylene King while Sandie Loader of Tryhards took two brilliant outfield catches.

Outlaws v Sids: It was slow start to this game which was eventually convincingly won by Outlaws.

Some excellent batting by Outlaws means they will play Tweenies next week for a place in the Grand Final.

A reserve

women's finals

Woolgoolga and Outlaws played for a Grand Final spot with Woolgoolga finishing on top so they are able to rest up for a week before competing in the grand final.

Toormina v Dorrigo Dingoes: This was a very hard fought battle that was a tie at the end of game time. As one team would be out of the finals race, the game continued into extra time.

Three extra digs were needed to separate these teams with Dingoes the eventual victors.

Dingoes will now play Outlaws next week for a Grand Final spot.

Mixed grade

Wannabees v Woolgoolga: This was a close game with Wannabees moving into the Grand Final.

The lead in this game changed several times with some great batting making the difference.

Jake Bailey from Woolgoolga was hit by a foul ball while waiting to bat. He injured his hand but continued to play.

Dingpees v Royals: The young Royals team managed to take out this final game and will now meet Woolgoolga in the semi final next week.
