Smoke plume was a controlled burnoff



IT looked bad, but smoke billowing from the Hogbin Drive area yesterday morning wasn't an emergency.

A Coffs Harbour Fire Station spokesman said the smoke was from a controlled burnoff at Coffs Harbour Golf Club.

n In other news, Coffs Harbour firefighters swung into action when a grassfire took hold on Hogbin Drive late on Tuesday.

Paul Hennessey from Coffs Harbour Fire Station said crews were called at 5.29pm to extinguish the blaze.

In the event of fire, residents are urged to phone 000.
