Showing their style

MEMBERSof the Combined Self Defence and Fitness group achieved excellent results in the national all-styles tournament at Port Macquarie last month.

The tournament involved all codes of martial arts forms from Taekwondo to kick boxing.

This event secures invitations for the team in the regional and State titles scheduled for September and October this year.

Ian Farmer came home with a first in point sparring and a third in continuous free spar.

Jodie Whitley achieved a second in point sparring taking her into sudden death against an experienced fighter and placed third in all forms.

Cameron Farmer competed in the 10-11 years point sparring against more experienced fighters.

Cameron is new to the tournament circuit but has had success gaining first placings at regional level.

Cheyenne Hoffman took out first place in female black belt point sparring, first in continuous free spar and second in forms.

Bernard Town, head instructor and principle of Combined Self Defence and Fitness (CSDF) has previously trained the team but has now handed over to Cheyenne Hoffman due to the growing classes and styles provided at his fully matted centre.

Bernard and Cheyenne both hold regional and State titles and are seeking financial support from local business houses to help their team attend tournaments.

Anyone interested in sponsorship can contact Bernard or Sandy Town on 6653 7726 or visit the centre at 101 West High St in Coffs Harbour.
