Shae's a knockout!

By KUE DAVIS

NOT many girls can say they have been named in the top three teen models in Australia, let alone as the most popular but that's exactly what Shae Ryan can now declare.

Shae, an Avocado Heights local, was named winner of the People's Choice award and overall second runner up in the 2007 national Miss Teen Australia pageant over the weekend.

"I was so excited when they called out my name I was really happy. I didn't really get nervous at all, which surprised me a bit," Shae said.

She said the four days she spent being judged and attending events was fun, but exhausting.

"It was pretty hard work. I think I only got about 10 hours sleep during the whole four days. We didn't get to bed until about 2am every night and then we had to be up by 4.30am," she said.

"All the girls were lovely we got along really well. We had a great time."

As winner of the People's Choice award, Shae would have been eligible to head back to the finals next year.

"Unfortunately, I'll be too old next year," she said.

"Instead, the organisers are thinking of sending me overseas with the winners to be the Australian ambassador, which is pretty exciting."

Shae is now looking forward to making a career out of modelling.
