A HUGE sea made conditions difficult at yesterday's North Coast branch junior surf lifesaving championships at Park Beach.
Club spokesperson Graeme Partland said the heaviest swell came towards the end of the day, forcing the cancellation of several board rescue events.
"We managed to get all but a few of the events completed," he said.
"Some of the markers were washed away forcing running repairs at the last minute."
It was another huge day for Sawtell club who cleared out to win the carnival pointscore with a final tally of 557, well clear of Coffs Harbour on 477.
Other individual totals were Woolgoolga 467, Nambucca Heads 103, Bellinger Valley/North Beach 76, Urunga 64, Minnie Waters/Wooli 40 and Red Rock/Corindi 2.
Partland said the big improvers at the carnival were the Nambucca and Bellinger clubs.
