Sawtell to recognise heroes of Fun Day
TODAY is the beginning of a new year, and while many will feel the urge to crawl back under the covers and recover from last night's celebrations, wouldn't it be better to start 2007 with a day of fun?
That is exactly what will be on offer at the annual Sawtell Super Fun Day, with the traditional New Year's Day extravaganza once again being held on the village green at Sawtell Beach Caravan Park.
The day's festivities begin with the 5.5 kilometre fun run at 9am and proceeds with myriad events such as the woodchop, children's games, a large variety of market stalls, carnival rides and much more.
And what would be a fun day be without a parade, with this year's procession, taking place at 10am, to include a variety of floats, vintage cars and motor bikes.
Like all small communities, Sawtell would not survive without the volunteers who unselfishly give up their time and energy to make it the great place it is today.
At a special presentation begining at noon, these great people will be recognised with the announcement of the Sawtellian of the Year and Junior Sawtellian.
