Sawtell boys rarin? to defend title

IT doesn't seem that long ago that Sawtell comfortably won their second successive first grade cricket title but when the sun comes up tomorrow, the covers will come off the wickets and the 2006-07 season will get under way.

This season the CH&DCA has returned to playing two full rounds of two-day matches as opposed to the large numbers of one-day matches that were fixtured last season.

With a dry summer predicted as opposed to last year' season which saw many days of cricket cancelled due to inclement conditions, the association is looking forward to a bumper season that is hopefully controversy free.

Part of the plan to achieve this is the moving of the competition into the 21st century with all clubs required to enter match results on-line.

n Turn to Page 28 to see the new cricket column that will appear each Friday in the Coffs Coast Advocate.

Tomorrow, check out the Advocate's preview of the first grade cricket competition as all six captains rate their team's chances for the summer.
