Roos under-12s hold lead

THE Under 12 North Coffs Roos maintained their ladder lead in junior AFL with a hard earned win against Nambucca Lions at York Street on Sunday.

The Lions won the last encounter at Macksville and again proved a worthy opposition.

The match was a low scoring encounter in the first half with the Roos leading 14 to 7 at the break.

North Coffs were struggling to play their normal free following style of football against a bigger, tougher Lions team.

In the second half the Roos started to take control of the game led by Ryan Johnstone, Darcy Homan and Jack Murat in a great team effort.

Final scores were 6-9-45 to 1-2-8 however this was not a true indication of the closeness of the game.

If their form continues these two teams appear destined to meet at the end of the season.

Among award winners on the day were Cody McCabe, Billy Rapley and Nick Stanlan-Velt.
