Reward for giving

AFTER 30 years of donating blood, Chris Jones certainly wasn't expecting a gift, but he got his free movie ticket, just like everyone else who donated blood yesterday or donates today.

"It's just nice to do something for somebody you don't even know," Mr Jones said. "Every 12 weeks, an hour out of your life, it's nothing.

"You don't realise it, but you're saving somebody's life, and one day it might be you."

Blood donations have been so low in Coffs Harbour in the past few days that the Red Cross Blood Service is offering free movie tickets in exchange for a small amount of your time and blood today.

"We're poorly booked for most of July," Coffs Harbour Red Cross Blood Service nurse unit manager Heather Donohoe said.

"By offering free movie passes, we're hoping to give an incentive to new donors and thanks to our regular donors."

The Coffs Harbour Red Cross Blood Service is open today and still has lots of appointments free, so if you have a spare hour, why not give them a ring on 131 495 and make an appointment.

You'll not only get a free Birch, Carroll and Coyle movie pass if you donate today, you'll also get the satis- faction of having saved three lives.
