Remember the night?

It may seem like a strange place to park, but this Volkswagen Transporter was one of many vehicles which wound up in unlikely places in Coffs Harbour 10 years ago. On November 23, 1996, a massive storm lashed the city, resulting in the death of one woman, mass evacuations and widespread destruction. The Volkswagen had been carried by floodwaters some 700 metres from its garage and became lodged in a tree over Coffs Creek. See tomorrow's Coffs Coast Advocate as we revisit that dreadful night through the eyes of those who will never forget the disaster.
