Regional champ hungry for more

By BRAD GREENSHIELDS

NARRANGA Public student Lauren French is a true 'jack of all trades'.

At the tender age of 12 French already has a state title next to her name for swimming.

And she's proven herself as more than a dab hand at touch football, gymnastics and softball.

Now you can add cross country running to that list.

Last year French reached the State finals in cross country where she finished 69th.

A better result is expected this week at Eastern Creek though as a commitment to a greater preparation is set to pay off.

"I'll do better this year," French said defiantly.

"I've been doing a little bit more training.

"On Sunday mornings I've gone running with a group of cross country runners and I think that will help."

French is the sort of girl that just loves to get in and give any sport a go, and the it seems the bigger the challenge, the more she wants to have a crack.

"I think it's going to get tougher when I get older," she said with a hint of excitement.

"I'll have to start running up Heartbreak Hill in the longer races."

Considering her list of achievements already, Heartbreak Hill will prove to be nothing more than a molehill.
