Ready for a good read?
COFFS HARBOUR readers and residents now have access to any of the 40 million items held in over 800 libraries across Australia after the council's library website linked to the Libraries Australia service.
"The Libraries Australia service is an Australian first which truly opens the doors of the nation's libraries to any reader or researcher no matter where they are," librarian, Enzo Accadia, said.
"Through our own interlibrary loans service we can arrange for materials to be brought here for local readers or sent anywhere else in the country," he said.
Linking to the Libraries Australia service ? which can be accessed via the Library website at www.coffsharbour.nsw.gov.au/city library ? was the culmination of a series of events to mark Library Week.
During the week, library staff took the 'visit your library' message out on the road with a special information stall at shopping centres in Woolgoolga, Toormina and Coffs Harbour.
"Over 280,000 people visited our three libraries last year, but many still don't realise just how much is on offer at your local library," said Mr Accadia.
"It's not just about books, we have magazines, DVDs and videos, music CDs, talking books, free internet access, word processing facilities, photocopiers and printing services."
"Public library visits have reached an all-time high, ac- cording to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, so come along to your local library and find out what you may have been missing," he said.
Council runs three libraries. Coffs Harbour Library in Coff Street is open from 9.30am until 6pm, Monday to Friday, and also until 2pm on Saturdays.
Toormina Library in Minorie Drive and Woolgoolga Library in Ganderton Street, are open Monday to Friday until 5pm and on Saturdays until noon.
