By CRAIG McTEAR

POLICE are hunting two men responsible for a rampage in Bowraville on Monday night.

The drama unfolded about 7pm when a man, 47, was awoken in his Carbin Street home by what he believed were friends trying to get in through a window.

He opened the front door and was confronted by two men, one of whom was brandishing a knife.

They forced him into a bedroom and held him down while they ransacked the room.

They then fled on foot.

At 9.30pm, another Bowraville man, 47, picked up two men in High Street, and the trio went to an address in the town.

About 30 minutes later, the two men dragged him from the car in High Street, assaulted him and left him next to the road.

They took his wallet, cash and his 1998 Magna sedan.

A detective later discovered the car and the two men at Macksville's Caltex Service Station.

The two men fled from the vehicle.

However, two women in the car were taken into custody.

They are assisting police with their inquiries.

The offenders are described as Aboriginal in appearance. One is thought to be in his late 20s with a slim build, while the other is also described as in his 20s.
