Quality sleep now possible

BY definition, respite means an interval of relief, so in order to offer that it is important for respite centres to provide a comfortable setting.

Understanding this, the Order of the Eastern Star, has been busy raising funds to make the elderly people at the Waratah Respite Centre that little more comfortable.

Deciding that the centre needed something practical, the Order raised enough funds to purchase a Spanco mattress for the frail and elderly people who access overnight respite at the Waratah Respite Centre.

The centre specialises in day, evening and overnight respite care for people who are frail aged and adults with disabilities.

Carers who look after someone at home are also able to have a break by accessing the service.

Manager of Waratah Respite, Ms Wallis Cummings, said the donation was a very welcome addition to the centre.

"Many thanks need to go to the Order of the Eastern Star for their support," Ms Cummings said.

"The work these great community groups do for us is fantastic. It really makes a huge difference to everyone who accesses the ser- vice."
