Pursuit leads to arrest

A MAN, 19, faced court yesterday on a host of charges following a police pursuit south of Coffs Harbour on Friday night.

The man was charged with mid-range drink-driving, driving while unlicensed, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, reckless and furious driving, speeding, and having number plates calculated to deceive.

Sergeant Keith Coleman alleged the man, who had two passengers, fled from a police breath-testing unit in his Mitsubishi Colt in Englands Road at 8.50pm.

Police chased the car along Isles Drive, the Pacific Highway, Stadium Drive, Hogbin Drive, Toormina Road, Lyons Road, McFadyn Street and Platts Close, where the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled.

The driver was later arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station.
