Police man-hunt under way after resort rape

POLICE are hunting a man who broke into a resort room and sexually assaulted an English tourist.

Police said the woman, 64, was holidaying at the un-named Coffs Harbour resort, north of Coffs Harbour, with her daughter and son-in-law on Tuesday.

After dinner, they retired to their respective rooms, police said.

At 3.30am on Wednesday, the woman awoke to find a man in her room.

"It's believed the man sexually assaulted her before leaving," a police spokesman said.

The woman received medical attention, police said. The man is described as obese, and he was last seen wearing a yellow or brown shirt, and long shorts.

"We are dependent on information from the public," the police spokesman said.
