Police in $40k drug raid

POLICE have dismantled a sophisticated cannabis-growing operation near Taylors Arm.

They've also seized $40,000 worth of drugs, as well as firearms, in the raid.

Detectives from Nambucca Heads and Kempsey, and Target Action Group police, swooped on the Burrapine property at 11am on Tuesday. Police arrested a man who was at the house at the time.

"We discovered three rooms in the house which had been modified to grow cannabis hydroponically," Detective Senior Constable Dave Stuart said.

Lights, ventilation systems and transformers were among the items police took during the search.

Police also seized 500 grams of cannabis leaf, 15 cannabis plants, and more than 100 grams of cannabis seed.

They also found two rifles and a large amount of ammunition.

A man, 35, was bailed to appear in Macksville Local Court on August 9 on drugs and firearms charges.

"This was definitely a well-organised set-up. A lot of thought and work had gone into it," Const. Stuart said.
