Over to you, Mr Holahan . . .

New ... Superintendent Mark Holahan.
New ... Superintendent Mark Holahan.

ON behalf of the people of the Coffs Coast, I would like to welcome the new Coffs/Clarence Local Area Commander, Superintendent Mark Holahan.

He arrives in Coffs Harbour faced with a tough job to overcome the problems that are impacting his new command.

Coffs Coast Advocate journalist Kue Davis has been writing regularly over the past month about the difficulties being caused by understaffing in the command officers are under extreme pressure and some patrols are not being filled.

These problems have existed for much longer.

It is important that Mr Holahan knows he and the officers of Coffs/Clarence have the full support of this newspaper and the local community.

Our campaign did not start because we wished to criticise the officers the opposite is true.

The Advocate has run these stories because we have such a high opinion of the work of local police.

They deserve our support so we have been using our pages to help them get more resources.

We wait to see what difference Mr Holahan can make.
