Our bronzed Aussies

LAST week was huge at Sawtell Surf Life Saving Club. Sydney club Manly has had a squad of 49 children visiting for a week of fun and relaxation as well as some surf training. Wednesday culminated in a get together of local clubs as well as the visitors with about 85 kids participating in training for board paddling, beach sprints, flags, swimming and other beach activities. This was all combined with a squad of Sawtell cadets sitting their bronze medallion examination. Five Sawtell SLSC cadets completed their bronze medallion and some of those are heading for Sydney to compete at the Premiership carnival at Freshwater this coming weekend. Kids from Sawtell, Nambucca Heads, Byron Bay, Manly and Freshwater all participated under expert tuition from local and visiting coaches. The friendship and co-operation between country and city clubs is great to see and is a fantastic learning experience and insight for all concerned. The club is looking forward to welcoming our metropolitan and regional friends back again soon.
